Calipso built along similar themes to Drupal and WordPress, that is designed to be fast, flexible and simple. Due to the asynchronous nature of NodeJS, it seemed like a good idea to try to build a CMS made up of modules that could execute asynchronously in a non-blocking way.

Calipso has scheduler and feeds module in core, allowing you to pull content from any source. Scheduler can call functions exposed by any module, giving fantastic flexibility. The first level of theming allows any module to render content (unstyled) as blocks, that can then be included by a theme in any section.

Calipso leveraging MongoDB for the back end, making use of Map Reduce functions for tag cloud and menu generation (so massively scalable!). No caching implemented yet, but the basic CMS can take ~180 hits / second on this home page on a standard PC.

No database setup or installation files, simply drop the application on a server and it runs. Your content is managed by creating folders and editing text files. No login screens, no admin interface. Stacey stores all of its content using flat text files & folders rather than a traditional database. So installation is as simple as copying the application files onto your server. No install file, no database setup and it will run on any standard php server.

The content file follows a simple format, where each chunk of content specific to the page or project is written out in plain text or html. The templating system uses vanilla html with a simple variable system. No php knowledge is required to build a site.
Some knowledge of html & css will be enough to build a completely custom website. Otherwise, the default templates should be enough to get started with. Stacey supports RSS/Atom straight out of the box.

Requirements: PHP 5+, Apache with mod_rewrite (optional), htaccess file support (optional)

BrowserCMS is a general purpose, open source Web Content Management System written in Ruby on Rails. It is designed to support three distinct groups of people:

Non-technical web editors who want a humane system to manage their site, without needing to understand what HTML or even Rails is.

Designers who want to create large and elegantly designed websites with no artificial constraints by the CMS.

Developers who want to drop a CMS into their Rails projects, or create CMS driven websites for their clients.

BrowserCMS is intended to offer features comparable to commercial CMS products, which can support larger teams of editors. This means having a robust set of features as part of its core, as well as the capability to customize it via modules.

Features

It’s just Rails: Each CMS project is a rails project that depends on the BrowserCMS gem. Developers can add new controllers, views, etc; just like any rails project.

Direct in context editing: Users can browse their site to locate content and change it right on the page itself.

Design friendly Templates: Pages aren’t just a template and giant single chunk of HTML. Templates can be built to have multiple editable areas, to allow for rich designs that are still easy to manage by non-technical users.

Sitemap: An explorer/finder style view of sections and pages in a site allowing users to add and organize pages.

Content Library: Provides a standardized ‘CRUD’ interface to allow users to manage both core and custom content types.

And more…
