Graphic designer Ainsley Bevis of Tutorials Share gives you a nice text tutorial which you can use in your design projects. Using Photoshop, you can create this sleek grunge, metal and sci-fi text effect.

The techniques she used are textures, brushes and shapes with the following resources - metal resources and N-Gage font.

Create a new document, copy and paste the Metal Texture onto the canvas and resize it by pressing CTRL+T. Set the Opacity after creating a new layer, using a soft-edged black brush around the edge of the canvas. You will be using Blending Mode – Multiply, and for the text, N-Gage font. Use Blending Options as well. Other tools you will use are Polygonal Lasso Tool, Add Mask Layer, Ellipse Tool, Color Dodge on Blending Mode, Erase Tool, Soft Edge Eraser.
