WP-DBManager

The WP-DBManager, created by Lester “GamerZ” Chan, is a plugin for WordPress that lets you backup, optimize, repair, restore and delete backup database. This is a lifesaver for all users because it automatically optimizes your database once you have it setup. No more worries if you’re unable to do the backup if you’re too busy, because the plugin will do the job for you.

Installation:

  1. Open the folder wp-content/plugins
  2. Put : Folder: wp-dbmanager
  3. Activate wp-DBManager plugin
  4. Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess file in Folder: wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager
  5. Script will create folder automatically (backup-db) in the wp-content folder if it is writable. If it’s not created, create it and CHMOD it to 777
  6. Open Folder: wp-content/backup-db
  7. Move .htaccess file from Folder: wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to Folder: wp-content/backup-db
  8. Go to Admin > Database > DB Options to configure database options

OR

Download the plugin, then using the WP Admin Panel, upload it directly, and activate.

Note: Since security is a very important issue among users, it’s highly recommended to upgrade the plugin immediately once a new version is released. Not upgrading the plugin makes it possible for anyone to get full access to the whole database where your WordPress is installed and could be exploited – a scenario which you want to avoid.
