Mini Slide Projector Designed Just for Instagram
You’ve shared your Instagram pictures on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook. You set them as your actual pictures, stickers, and magnets. But that’s not enough. Here’s something new that will allow you and your friends to see your Instagram photos in a brand-new light: Projecteo, a tiny LED-lit projector that uses 35mm film to project and enlarge your pictures at up to 2 and a half feet wide.
Projecteo is a Kickstarter-funded project by Mint Digital (makers of Olly andFoldable.me). The concept behind this was born when creator Ben Redford spotted an old Rollei projector and some slides at a market stall. The idea is to bring back a feeling of the old days when family and friends gathered together to watch projected slide images and movies.
All you have to do is take a photo on Instagram, then upload your photos via a service that places them onto a miniature reel designed for the projector. Afterwards, the actual 35mm slides are sent to you.
Redford states, “35mm film used to be the dominant means of developing and sharing photos and slides. The quality and richness of slide film is second to none. Now, most of that behavior happens in a digital format. However, that doesn’t mean the infrastructure or incredible quality of analogue development has disappeared, it just hasn’t been ‘connected’ yet.”
So far, the project’s Kickstarter campaign has raised $18,734 of the required $18,000.
If you decide to pledge $25 or more to the cause, you’ll be one of the first backers to receive a very own image slide projector to impress people with, and early birds can purchase it for only $10 cheaper. The group will only produce 1,000 limited edition Projecteos in the Rollei P35 colors, available only on Kickstarter.
For those artistic individuals out there, I am certain this is something that will make a dazzling addition to your already professional gadget park. Bring on the nostalgia!
