If you’re looking for some inspiration in working for your next website project, you might be interested in this cool tutorial. Ionut Ciursa, a web designer from U.K., created a sleek and clean Dark Portfolio Design. In creating this, he used Photoshop in which he kept the gradients to a minimum and relied on creating textures and patterns for different areas. And with a dark-themed layout being used, you can use light colors to highlight the important parts.

To organize the elements of the layout, he used the 960 Grid System which is available for download. After downloading it, unzip the files. Each .PSD file contains a grid with 12, 16, and 24 columns. It has some guides set up and to activate them, simply go to View > Show > Guides. You can also use the shortcut Ctrl/Cmd+:.

Ciursa’s tutorial requires you to create shapes with specific dimensions so to view the shape’s exact size, you should open Info Panel by going to Window > Info. Then the width and height of shapes will be shown.
