If you like movie poster designs and use them as inspiration for your projects, here’s a tutorial that would be very useful. It’s a creation from the guys at Abduzeedo that is based on the film adaptation of Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. This is heavily inspired by Art Deco movement which is stunningly beautiful.

The tools they used in creating this cool design are Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. According to the creator, it’s not that difficult, only time consuming. Also remember that there are no rules but keep the square angles.

In Illustrator, you’ll be using Line Segment Tool (/) or Pen Tool (P) for the basic lines on the squared angles and you need to hold down the Shift tool when you add the lines. Other tools used are Pathfinder Tool, Layer Styles, Color Overlay, Inner Shadow, Brush Tool, Filter and Blur.
