Today we’ll be covering a tutorial courtesy of the guys at PSD Tuts+. Here, you’ll get to learn how to create a spectacular flaming meteor effect on text.

This design takes a step further from your usual custom typography, with text falling from the sky in a burning-like inferno. According to the creators, there’s a little touch of Illustrator for the text, but for the rest, Photoshop is used.

This design was inspired by a Nike ad, so always keep your eyes open for any inspiration that you may happen to find, because you’ll never know what you can use to create fantastic designs of your own.

You’ll have to use different tools like Lasso Tool, Filter-Render-Clouds, Adjustments-Levels, Noise, Gradient Overlay and more. Check out the full tutorial here.
