Common Reasons Why Your WordPress Site is Slow

ScreenHunter 73 Aug. 23 08.30 Common Reasons Why Your WordPress Site is SlowEver wonder why your WordPress site gets slow? There are several factors that contribute to this. The 3 most common reasons that guys at Tips and Tricks HQ have pointed out are as follows:

  • Poorly coded plugins. Since WordPress is open source, there are too many available plugins to choose from. Though a lot of plugins are useful and well-made, some may not have a good coding quality and may affect the speed of your site. Check the number of downloads for each plugin, and how well it is supported and updated. Remember that the more you install lower-quality plugins, the more the will slow down your site. Instead of focusing on the number of plugins, you should focus on limiting use of poorly coded ones.
  • Poorly coded themes. The same thing applies for themes. Whether it’s free or premium, f it’s not well constructed, it will affect your site’s speed as well. Avoid themes that contain lots of JavaScript files. Try out using native WP themes first then compare how well premium theme fare against them.
  • Hosting is not very good. Your hosting provider will also affect your site speed so carefully choose a hosting plan that will benefit you most. Most free and cheap providers are under-resourced in terms of features. If you’re provider puts you in a shared server, chances are it will affect your speed and performance because of overcrowding.
