How to Efficiently Link to Existing WordPress Posts

Sometimes when you create a new post in WordPress, you need to link back to some of your previous posts. But it can be tedious hunting for old post URL’s, particularly if they’re buried under months or even years of posts.

There’s an easier way to do this though, and you don’t even have to leave your post editor. It’s actually built-in!

  • First, type out your post in the post editor.
  • Highlight the text that you wish to link to your old post.
  • text

  • Click on the Link button.
  • link

  • The Insert/Edit Link field will appear. Click on the Link to Existing Content menu.
  • link-to-existing-content

  • A list of previous posts will appear. From here you can select the post you need. You can also use the Search field to locate the post you wish to link to your current text.
  • link-to-existing-content

  • Click on the link you want, and hit Save.
  • That’s it!
